Dear MP,
We have deep concern regarding the Supreme Court ruling of 16th April 2025, the interim Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) guidance of 25th April 2025. All of which are an intentional effort to limit the rights of trans people, and force them out of public life.

The EHRC in the last four years have consistently been extremely hostile to the rights of trans women. Their guidance suggests that trans people will be barred from using single-sex facilities in line with their identity and presentation, regardless of whether they have a Gender Recognition Certificate. While their guidance is not statuary, it has great impact, and we do not think it reflects the intended mandate of the Commission.

Trans individuals are more likely than cisgender individuals to be victims of violence. Evidence suggests that trans people are a vulnerable and oppressed group, and are increasingly becoming more isolated. For example, hate crimes of transgender people rose by 186% between 2018 - 2023.

I am extremely worried for these reasons...

I also ask you to write to the UK Minister for Equalities, Bridget Phillipson MP. Please let her know that I am worried about what the effects of this ruling may be, and to urge her to protect the lives of vulnerable trans people.

Yours faithfully.
